Why is the Initial Consultation, Postural, Functionality and Range of Motion Assessment Important?"Consultation and assessment allows me to provide the most effective treatment and prevention information to you. For example, it could be a muscular issue you are experiencing in your lower leg however the issue could be originating from your lower back due to running technique or the headaches you are experiencing are being caused by a postural imbalance due to incorrect positioning at your desk. It is not always the site of pain that is the cause. Assessment will not only identify areas that massage can have a positive impact on, however another key element of the assessments will identify areas that could benefit from homecare strengthening and stretching techniques. Prior to meeting and then during your first visit, we will discuss information relating to your medical history, work routine and lifestyle. This will ensure any treatment undertaken is safe and bespoke to you. Postural analysis will identify any potential imbalances and range of motion testing will identify any restrictions on functionality and movement at the joints of the body. By being fully aware of your own functionality and understanding how to maintain or improve certain areas will be of major benefit to you. These assessments are continually reviewed to monitor improvement and to ensure we are achieving your set goal. Ultimately, it is all about working together through consultation, assessment, massage, homecare strengthening, stretching and possible changes to aspects of daily life. The aim is to not only resolve the initial reason for visit however to minimise the risk of repeat issues.

Tell me more about Sports and Remedial Massage TherapySports and Remedial Massage Therapy is the systematic assessment and treatment of the soft tissues throughout the body. Soft tissues include skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. The focus for Sports Massage is to have a positive effect on your reason for your visit combined with the Remedial aspect of assessing and understanding why the initial issue has happened. This approach allows me to gain a complete overview and together we can work on the symptom, the cause and the remedy. Using specific massage techniques, combined with homecare stretching and / or strengthening and potential changes in everyday life would all have a positive effect to minimise the risk of repeat issues. Whilst using traditional massage techniques for relaxation, enhanced circulation and soft tissue movement, sports massage utilises specific deeper techniques and movements.
